Kaleimaʻo Village nears completion, delivering 126 new affordable rental units on City-owned land in ʻEwa Beach
HONOLULU – The new affordable housing project called Kaleimaʻo Village is nearing completion ahead of schedule, bringing 126 rental units to ʻEwa Beach. The $60 million development, built on City-owned land, marked the milestone with a pre-opening blessing on Thursday, October 15, attended by Governor Josh Green, M.D., Mayor Rick Blangiardi, State and City officials, and development partners Stanford Carr Development and Standard Communities.
“Just about 17 months ago, we were standing on this very site, breaking ground on Kaleimaʻo Village, and today we are celebrating a development that is preparing to welcome its first local families,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “That is remarkable progress, and exactly what we need right now. We are using City lands intelligently to rapidly and urgently address the affordable housing shortage on Oʻahu, while working hand-in-hand with tremendous and visionary leaders like Governor Josh Green and developer Stanford Carr.”
Located at 91-1400 Renton Road on approximately 3.7 acres of City-owned land, Kaleimaʻo Village includes 127 rental units, including one manager’s unit, across seven three-story residential buildings. The City supported the development through a 75-year ground lease and approximately $30 million in Private Activity Bond financing. The development will serve households earning at or below 60% of the area median income (AMI), including seven units reserved for households earning at or below 30% AMI.
Kaleimaʻo Village is opening in two phases, so residents can move in while work on the remaining homes continues. The completed and active construction areas will be separated and secured to keep residents safe. The first phase, with 79 units and the community facilities, is nearly finished, and the first residents are expected to move in late October or early November. The remaining 48 units are expected to be complete by early December, with full occupancy targeted by April 2027.
